UBC iCAP University Preparatory Course
The UBC iCAP University Preparatory Program is designed to enhance international students' academic, multicultural, and communication skills through the UBC University Liberal Studies curriculum. It is hosted by the Center for Intercultural Communication (CIC) under UBC, and the courses are offered on the Point Grey Campus of UBC University as a full-time program. The CAP college preparatory course is the best education for pre college culture, academic and communication skills. For many young students, learning and living in a new cultural environment is an exciting experience. Because they not only have the opportunity to improve their language skills, but also have the chance to experience new ways of doing things, new ways of thinking, and facing new worldviews. For this reason, The design of iCAP university preparatory courses is interactive and adopts an English teaching environment, aiming to improve students' academic, cultural, and communication skills, in order to help them adjust themselves and adapt to their requirements for success in future academic, career, and social goals.

ICAP University Preparatory Course Structure
UBC will teach all major iCAP university preparatory courses. At the same time, several admission requirements of the course will be handled by relevant institutions designated by the university. These main components include
1) Pre university English courses (ELI-ESL); 2) North American university admission consultation, counseling, and application arrangements; 3) Individual tutoring for student life; 4) Host family arrangements.
UBC iCAP University Preparatory Course Admission Requirements and Instructions
UBC iCAP University Preparatory Program follows a consistent admission principle: if we believe a student does not meet the requirements of the program, we will not accept payment of tuition fees from the student. The academic assessment for admission is based on our extensive experience in assisting international students over the years. Generally speaking, students applying for iCAP university preparatory courses must meet the following requirements for English and related subjects:
1. UBC iCAP application fee CAD $100;
2. Complete the admission application form. Please consult 400-650-8585
3. Tuition deposit of CAD $5000. Students will pay after receiving the pre admission letter. Payment methods include credit card or wire transfer (wire transfer requires an additional CAD $25 wire transfer fee);
On the first day of school, students must be at least 18 years old;
5. Scanned copies of high school transcripts issued by the school (including all existing grades, all high school subjects must be qualified and the average score must be above 78%);
6. It is not mandatory for students to provide TOEFL/IELTS scores, but it is recommended that students have an English proficiency level of TOEFL 480 or above. For those who already have TOEFL/IELTS scores, please provide scanned copies of their transcripts. The first three months of the ICAP course are university English training courses offered by the English Language Institute at UBC University. After successfully passing the UBC Language Institute Level 5 English proficiency test, students can read the preparatory courses for the second half of the iCAP. But if the student still fails to meet the standard after three months, they need to continue reading
ESL (fees paid by students to the school) until the standards are met.
7. High school students should provide scanned copies of their high school Chinese and English enrollment certificates (the enrollment certificate must indicate that the student will graduate from the school);
8. High school graduates are required to provide a scanned copy of their graduation certificate in Chinese and an English translation. The English translation of the high school graduation certificate must be stamped by the school or translation company, and students can also provide a scanned copy of their high school graduation certificate that has been notarized;
After submitting the online application form, it is necessary to print it out and submit it together with the admission application documents listed in sections 5-8.

UBC iCAP University Preparatory Course Collaboration Center [UBC University Language Center, English Language Institute】
Applicable students: All students applying for UBC iCAP university preparatory courses
The Language Institute (ELI) of UBC was established in 1969 and is located in the center of the UBC campus. It provides multimedia language laboratories and learning centers, allowing students to use the latest Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) technology. At the language center, students can access the internet for free. ELI offers six levels ranging from beginner to proficient (100~600)
Full time English language training. Four semesters per year, with 12 weeks per semester (10 weeks for courses in July).
The school starts in January, April, July, and September. The courses focus on speaking and listening, reading and grammar, writing, pronunciation, or exam preparation (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, and Cambridge). The scope of teaching includes world news
Current events, drama, business ideas, or Canadian lifestyle and culture.
The University of British Columbia recognizes the Certificate of English Proficiency Level 6 as proof of English proficiency (equivalent to TOEFL score requirements), which can be used to apply for admission to degree programs at the University of British Columbia.
