Koerner Hall
Located in the heart of the research center, it provides an unprecedented ideal venue for art education and performance.
There are a total of 1135 seats with first-class sound effects, suitable for various types of music performances - classical, jazz, pop, opera, and world music - as well as movies, lectures, and educational seminars.
The Royal Academy of Music thanks Michael and Sonja Koerner for their support in building the Canadian Dream Movement.
The design of the performance hall is based on the traditional shoe box style architecture - a tall building with a rectangular bottom and a continuous balcony, providing the best view for the audience. The design adheres to the concept of 'creating an indoor environment that combines first-class sound effects, unique style, and beautiful visuals'.
Koerner Hall provides the best sound effects for playing a variety of classical music, equipped with various sound-absorbing devices, and suitable for high volume jazz, pop, and world music. The wooden curtain above the choir position, connected to the ceiling, not only reflects sound, but also shields the performance lights and technical bridge, which is the essence of the decoration of the entire performance hall.
The performance hall will be used by the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, the Grenoble School, and the Royal School of Music. It will also be used as a venue for lectures, rehearsals, and festive events at the Royal Academy of Music. In addition, it can be rented for jazz and comedy festivals, seminars, company or community events, etc.
