Meng Chang Hui is currently building two new long-term care centers, and Dr. Wu Songyu's long-term care center in Stoville is expected to be completed in May 2025, one year earlier than the government's expectation; The new long-term care center located in Markham City is expected to be completed in the spring of 2026. The third new project is a new long-term care home with 288 beds located in Wenshan City, Liezhi, which is also ready. Once the government implements it, construction will begin immediately. After the completion of three large-scale projects, 832 new beds will be added to the community. Meng hopes that community members will strongly support the fundraising plan for the "Because We Care" new hospital, so that more elderly and weak people can receive the best quality medical care services.
The Chairman of the Mong Kok Association, Guan Yongtian, stated, "Currently, there are over 8000 applicants on the waiting list in the four hospitals of the Mong Kok Association, and the number continues to rise, indicating a strong demand for nursing services in the community. Therefore, we are actively building new institutions to meet the urgent needs of medical care due to the aging population in the community. In the autumn of 2023, we will start construction of two new long-term care homes located in Stoville and Markham. Over the past year, these two large-scale projects have progressed smoothly and faster than expected by the government. At the same time, we are also intensively planning to build a new long-term care home located in Wenshan City, Liezhi, which will provide 288 beds. With the support and cooperation of the provincial and municipal governments and various parties, we will start construction of the new homes as soon as possible. The challenges faced by undertaking three large-scale projects during the same period can be imagined. We are also not afraid of difficulties, and we hope that the community and Mengtang will overcome numerous obstacles together, benefiting more elderly people in the community
The exterior walls and roof of Dr. Meng, Chang, Wu, Songyu's long-term care center have been completed and are currently undergoing internal decoration
The design focus of Mengchangxin Long term Care Center is still on meeting the different needs of residents, and constantly updating and improving the design of the institution, with particular emphasis on facilities for preventing and controlling virus transmission. In addition to the basic design of each resident's room being equipped with independent ventilation and control of heating and cooling systems, as well as real-time positioning systems, Meng Ting Hui will also provide independent toilets for each basic room in the new hospital, which will be in line with the current private room suites, but will be charged for general basic rooms. This concept has been approved by the Ontario Department of Long Term Care. Although the construction cost of one person one room is higher and occupies more space, it is relatively better for epidemic prevention control and the privacy of the elderly.
Construction progress of Mengtang Wanjin Long term Care Center
The new long-term care home located in Stoville has been officially named the "Meng Chang Wu Songyu Long term Care Center" to commemorate the great contribution of Dr. Wu Songyu, the medical director of the late Meng Chang Lie Zhi Wen Shan Long term Care Center, to the community. This eight story long-term care home building, which provides 224 beds, has been topped out and is currently undergoing internal renovation. It is expected to be completed in May 2025, and the progress is exciting! It is expected to be included in the Ontario Health at Home long-term care home list by the provincial government in the coming months for eligible individuals to apply. When the new court accepts the application, Meng will further release information to the public. The under construction Wan Jin Xin Long term Care Center adopts a bright design with a high floor. As of the end of October, this 11 story nursing building has been built to the 5th floor and is progressing well. It is expected to be completed in the spring of 2026 and will provide 320 new beds for the community. The Wan Jin Bai Dun Meng Chang Ge Elderly Building in the Wan Jin Comprehensive Nursing Community will also be occupied in the spring of 2026, providing high-quality housing for the elderly, supporting different recreational activities, expanding their circle, maintaining physical and mental happiness, and delaying the time when they need nursing services. At that time, it will bring a new scene to the community.
Conceptual Map of Liezhi Wenshan New Long term Care Center
In addition, Meng Shanghui has closely planned with the provincial and municipal governments to build another new long-term care center in Liezhi Wenshan, which will provide 288 beds. We plan to start construction as soon as possible to enable those in need in the community to benefit from high-quality nursing services as soon as possible. The construction project of the new long-term care center is huge, and the Mengtang Association urgently needs the strong support and participation of community organizations. Although the Mengtang Association has already made arrangements and reserves in multiple ways, it still needs to continuously raise funds. The fundraising plan for the "Because We Care" new hospital of the Mengtang Association has begun. The Mengtang Association calls on all sectors of society to generously contribute and hopes to unite as one to seek welfare for the elderly and weak in the community.
The problem of aging population is becoming increasingly serious, and high-quality nursing services are the best way to repay the elderly for their lifelong hard work. According to data from the Ontario Long Term Care Association (OLTCA) as of March 2024, there are over 45000 people on the Long Term Care Bed Waiting List, with an average waiting time of 126 days. However, the four long-term care centers in Mengtang have a total of 777 beds, with an average waiting time of 5 to 7 years. Therefore, the fundraising plan for the new hospital is urgent, and it is also a concern for the long-term care service needs of the elderly in the community. Mengshang hopes that the community will strongly support the mission of building high-quality housing for the elderly.
