The Yiping Music Education Center and Zixiao Music Studio held the "Jingling Bell~2023 Christmas Teacher and Student Concert" on the evening of December 19th at the magnificent St. Paul's Church. In the first half of the concert, everyone enjoyed classic music works such as Schubert's "Serenade" and Chopin's "Nocturne No. 2" performed by classmates such as Li Siyuan and Bonny. They also enjoyed the jazz song "Only Trust Your Heart" sung by Li Siyuan in Zixiao's music theory class, as well as the art song "Spring Sorrow" co written by Diana and her sister Miriam from Iran.
Teacher Chao said: Seeing the students' growth and progress year after year, watching their wonderful performances on stage, as a teacher, it feels a bit dreamy. What could be better than music nourishing them and accompanying their growth?
The performances of young talents are inspiring, Patrick、 Xu Hanyu played the cello piece "Mysterious Garden" and Bach's "Minuet No. 3" respectively, Olivia Hou played Debussy's "Narrative", Liu Mengyang and Zhang Yilin played the guitar and bass duo "Christmas Knot", He Zixiao and David Lin collaborated to perform Rachmaninoff's "wordless song", and so on. Coincidentally, they are all graduates or current students of the University of Toronto, studying psychology, medicine, architectural design, and other majors. However, music has always accompanied their learning and life, enriching their lives.
The second half of the concert is mainly a presentation performance by adult vocal students. They sang "Ode to Coral", "Full Moon", "Song of the Yangtze River", "Horizon", "Unforgettable Past", "wutong Tree"; Male and female duet 'Flowers Falling Again'; SPO Women's Chorus performs classic vocal works such as "Spring, Where Are You. They are serious and persistent, singing with heart, and all songs are accompanied by piano and cello chamber music. Among them are traditional Chinese medicine practitioners, entrepreneurs, professors, and government officials who excel in their respective fields. Singing and music are also their favorites.
The collaboration between Teacher Chao and two young talents, David Lin and He Zixiao, at the concert was a major highlight. David Lin is from Taiwan and has been studying piano and violin since childhood. He holds a Master's degree in violin performance from the University of Toronto School of Music. David collaborated on several classic pieces for the concert, such as Rachmaninoff's cello piece "Songs Without Words" and Puccini's opera aria "My Dear Dad". It should be noted that due to time constraints, these two works were not rehearsed before and were seen directly on stage, which demonstrates David's professional skills and experience.
As in previous years, Teacher Chao and He Zixiao once again presented a mother son collaboration on stage. This time, He Zixiao improvised the cello solo "There are So Many People in This World" to accompany his mother's piano. The deep and beautiful sound of the cello is like tears and complaints, as if it is the voice of the soul, and also expresses sincere gratitude to every student who has persisted in learning for many years and to all the friends who have attended the concert! The concert also received friendly sponsorship and support from literary and artistic youth Jason Zhang, finance and life professor Hanson Shen, electrical engineering professor, real estate agent Han Shiping, and other friends who love music at Toronto's Downtown Toyota car dealership. Senior journalists Thomas Lv, Ms. Xie Jingxiang, and Red Maple Film and Television Zhao Hongjun also attended the concert.
The concert fully demonstrated the charm and affinity of music, bringing warmth and hope to people who have been troubled by the epidemic and gone through hardships in recent years. After the concert, both the participants and the live audience were still unsatisfied. The students expressed their determination to continuously work hard to nourish their hearts and enrich their lives with music. Next year's concert will report to the teachers and everyone at a higher level.
Looking forward to the Ringing Bell Concert in 2024!
