Laval University is located in Quebec City, the capital of Quebec Province, Canada

Laval University is one of the major universities in Canada and ranks among the top ten Canadian universities in the field of research. We have a research and international cooperation project fund of 150000000 yuan.

The history of Laval University can be traced back to 1663, when the first bishop of New France, Bishop Fran of Laval, established the Quebec Research Institute under the authorization of King Louis XIV of France. In 1852, Queen Victoria issued a Royal Charter to transform the Quebec Institute into Laval University. In 1878, Laval University established a new campus in Montreal, which focused on higher education. In 1920, the Montreal campus was renamed as the University of Montreal. Laval University is the first university in Canada and the first French taught higher education institution in North America.




Laval University is among the top universities in Canada in terms of course evaluation, teaching planning, and international teaching and research. The courses offered include university courses and graduate courses, totaling 350 courses. There are a total of 36000 students in the school, of which 20% are graduate students. Laval University admits over 2500 international students and nearly 1000 students from outside of Canada each year.

The Laval campus is one of the most beautiful campuses in Quebec. Covering an area of 1.2 hectares, there are over 30 pavilions on campus, connected by a 10km underground passage.

There are four student dormitory buildings with a total of 2300 rooms. The newly built Alphonse Desjardin building has become the focal point of the campus community.

In 1989, Laval University relocated its School of Architecture to the Quebec Research Institute in Old Quebec. In 1994, the School of Visual Arts relocated to the La Fabrique building in downtown Quebec.
