(1) School Introduction
Canadian Sunshine International College is a private preparatory college registered with the Ontario Department of Education in Canada. The school was established in Toronto in 1989, consisting of a high school/college preparatory department and an English training department. At present, the school has more than 300 full-time students, of which about 60% are Canadian students, about 30% are from Chinese Mainland, and about 10% are from other countries and regions. Students will receive a high school graduation certificate (OSSD) issued by the Ontario Department of Education in Canada upon graduation, Ontario Secondary School Diploma。
The high school/college preparatory department is led by Mr. Eckler, the principal (a Master of Education from the University of Pennsylvania in the United States and a commissioner from the Ontario Department of Education in Canada), who provides formal high school courses for grades 9-12 and college preparatory courses.
The English training department is led by Vice President Xu Kaihong (former director and president of Beijing New Oriental, advisor to the US President Obama's campaign, and the first person to take the new TOEFL exam), providing training on TOEFL, IELTS, COPE, SAT, MELAB, GMAT and other exams.
(2) Relative advantage
1. The teaching staff has good qualifications.
The teachers in the high school/college preparatory department are all Westerners from high-quality universities in the United States and Canada. They have rich teaching experience for Chinese students and have a good understanding of their commonalities and individualities. They consciously provide personalized guidance based on the characteristics of each student. The teaching team of the English Training Department is composed of well-known English teachers such as Xu Kaihong, who have obvious characteristics and popularity in the college entrance English exam.
2. The management is quite strict.
The school is located in the high standard of living area of Toronto, and attaches great importance to hardware facilities and creating a learning atmosphere. The school has dedicated personnel to promptly report students' learning and living conditions to parents through phone or email. Another traditional feature is the "Big Brother Big Sister Plan": arranging senior students to help freshmen adapt to local learning and life as soon as possible.
3. There is a large amount of classroom teaching.
Based on the characteristics of Chinese and other Asian students, the classroom teaching volume of this school is much larger than many schools, without allowing students to self-study too much classroom time. Moreover, outside of class, teachers often increase their teaching time at the request of students until they have explained their coursework clearly. This is difficult to achieve in many schools.
4. The admission rate to prestigious universities is high.
According to the school's statistics (note: unverified by a third party), since its establishment, over 70% of its students have been admitted to prestigious universities in the United States and Canada (University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, McGill University, University of British Columbia, University of Western Ontario, Queen's University, Harvard University, Yale University, Stanford University). In 2009, as many as 85% of its students were admitted to top Canadian universities, mainly in Toronto and Waterloo. As of now, 100% of graduates have successfully completed their university studies.
5. The tuition fees are relatively reasonable.
The tuition fee for each course is US $1200. High school/preparatory students can enroll in the new TOEFL full-time guaranteed course worth US $2200 for free.
6. Ensure college admission and high scores in English.
The school collaborates with four universities to ensure that graduates are admitted to universities, namely: University of Alberta, Ontario Institute of Technology, Acadia University, and University of Regina. As long as the average score reaches 70, there is no need for TOEFL or IELTS scores to qualify for conditional admission to these universities. Chinese students in the high school/preparatory department of the school can study for free in the new TOEFL guaranteed class worth US $2200.00 (ensuring a score of 100 in the new TOEFL), or enroll in IELTS or Cope guaranteed classes.
7. The location is relatively convenient.
The school is located in the downtown area of Toronto, providing students with more opportunities to learn about the culture and life of Western core cities, as well as more convenient conditions for internships, employment, or immigration preparation.
