Have you taken these antibiotics in Canada? You are eligible for compensation!

According to the English media Daily Hive, on Friday (July 26), Dusevic and Garcha, a law firm based in British Columbia, announced that a class action lawsuit involving fluoroquinolone prescription drugs Levaquin, Cipro, and Avelox has been settled across Canada.


Fluoroquinolone antibiotics are used to treat certain bacterial infections in adults, including respiratory, urinary, and skin infections.


The class action lawsuit states that "Cipro, Avelox, and/or Levaquin are not suitable for use, and are not suitable for marketing and sale for the treatment of unnecessary infections, and lack warnings and instructions regarding their use and associated dangers


Janssen Inc.、Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc.、Janssen Research & Development, LLC, And Bayer Inc. is the defendant in the class action lawsuit.

According to the law firm, the hearing to approve the settlement agreement is scheduled for November 1, 2024 at 10am Pacific Time in the Supreme Court of British Columbia.


If approved, eligible individuals can apply for compensation. The applicant must be a Canadian resident (excluding Quebec), have been prescribed in Canada at any time on or before the date of the certification order (i.e. June 13, 2024), and have taken Levaquin, Cipro, or Avelox.


If you believe you are eligible for a settlement, the lawyer says there is no need to do anything now.


If the settlement is approved by the aforementioned court, another notice will be issued at that time, providing more information on how to file a claim
