hot wire! Universal dental care will be fully launched by 2025, allowing every Canadian to enjoy subsidies

More than one million Canadians have received dental care through the new national public insurance program, with an average of 730 yuan in oral care service subsidies per patient.

Health Minister Mark Holland said at a community center in Scarborough, Ontario on Thursday, "We couldn't achieve our goal overnight, but through one effort after another, we have reached the first one million

The Canadian Dental Care Program (CDCP) provides subsidies for dental expenses for those who do not have private insurance and have a household income of less than 90000 yuan.

The Ministry of Health stated that so far, the program has paid 732 million yuan in dental expenses. It is expected that the cost over the next five years will reach 13 billion yuan.

Currently, the Canadian Dental Care Program is applicable to individuals aged 65 and above, children under 18, and those with valid disability tax credits. As of now, 2.7 million Canadian residents have been granted access to the program.

We will expand to more people next year

About two-thirds of the Canadians covered by this program are currently ineligible. In 2025, the plan will be expanded on a large scale to cover eligible Canadians beyond the specific groups mentioned above, with an additional 6 million people.

When asked if these people will be covered in a few months, the minister said, "The exact date is still being determined. We hope to expand to other groups in early 2025

He said, "We are constantly evaluating the process to ensure that opinions are heard and feedback from oral health providers is taken into consideration

At present, CDCP covers oral care services such as dental cleaning and filling. Starting from November 1st, the program will be extended to more complex and expensive procedures that require prior approval, such as the initial installation of dental crowns and partial dentures.

Holland said, "We will conduct an evaluation to help determine when to launch these services to the next group of people. But we are firmly committed to expanding the program to all Canadians as soon as possible by 2025

At first, the participation rate of dentists in this program was relatively low, but the Ministry of Health stated that currently 89% of oral care providers, or a total of 22340 patients nationwide, have accepted patients under this program.

Starting from tomorrow, paper insurance applications will also be allowed to be submitted. So far, only by submitting insurance online can one participate in the plan.

Dentists, denture technicians, and dental hygienists participating in this program are voluntary.
