Yikang A1 Radio has exceeded its fundraising target and raised nearly 170000 yuan to benefit the elderly

The Yikang Foundation and Sing Tao A1 Chinese Radio once again teamed up to hold their annual radio fundraising event last Thursday (November 14th). The event has successfully ended, but there are still donations from philanthropists to support it. So far, nearly 170000 yuan has been raised, which will be used to support Yikang's elderly services and build the Yikang Wu Zhaocan Long term Care Home.

The theme of this year's radio fundraising is "Having a sense of security in old age, building a hopeful future". Through round the clock appeals, community forces are gathered to benefit the elderly and offer care and hope, so that they do not have to worry about the future. On the day of the event, from 7am to 6pm, Sing Tao A1 Chinese Radio Station (FM 91.9 and FM 100.7) conducted an 11 hour live broadcast at the Yee Kong Scarborough Centre. At each stage, residents, family members, volunteers, employees, and community members of Yikang Hospital shared how their lives were touched by the comprehensive services provided by Yikang, and shared their hopes for the new Yikang Hospital.

Dr. Wang Yujia, founder and chairman of the Yikang Foundation, and Dr. Xiao Xianyang, president of the Yikang Foundation, both expressed their views on population aging and the shortage of elderly care resources during interviews, emphasizing the importance of community support.

Dr. Wang Yujia, founder and chairman of the Yikang Foundation, stated in an interview that thanks to generous donations from various sectors of society, the fifth Yikang Long Term Care Center started construction in November last year and will add 224 long-term care beds to the community. He mentioned, "There are 8000 elderly people on the waiting list at Yikang, and they face long waiting times. Yikang still needs strong support from all sectors of the community to accelerate the construction of new facilities and help more elderly people in need

The President of the Yikang Foundation, Xiao Xianyang, expressed great gratitude to the community for their support of Yikang's fundraising activities. Every donation is a wish for the future of the elderly. Although the construction of the fifth Yikang nursing home in Scarborough is in full swing, the "Love? Urgent" plan to build a new home will continue. We hope everyone will continue to generously contribute and help the new home be completed as soon as possible to alleviate the urgent need for elderly services in the community.

Beatrice Leung, the Home Services Manager at Yikang, mentioned that in addition to long-term care services, Yikang also offers a wide range of community services and home support services. These daytime programs can alleviate the burden on caregivers, give them a chance to catch their breath, and provide a buffer zone for health, helping to slow down the waiting time for elderly care institutions.
