Recently, Professor Wang Peizhong, Chairman of North American Chinese Health, gave an exclusive interview to OMNI TV, detailing the current prevalence of respiratory diseases and the ongoing questionnaire survey on vaccine awareness and vaccination status among Chinese women.
According to the results of a study completed by Chinese Health in North America in early 2023, the vast majority of Chinese (including men) hold a neutral attitude towards pregnant women receiving COVID-19 vaccine, accounting for 63.8%. However, 12% of pregnant women opposed to the COVID-19 vaccine.
This questionnaire is partially funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and has been reviewed and approved by the Interdisciplinary Committee on Human Research Ethics at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. The research team expresses sincere gratitude for this.
The design of this questionnaire is more comprehensive, not only focusing on COVID-19 vaccine, but also covering other important vaccines such as influenza vaccine and DPT vaccine. According to preliminary feedback from 50 mothers and pregnant women, the proportion of those who received influenza vaccine and pertussis vaccine during pregnancy is only 14% and 27%, respectively. One of the main reasons for not getting vaccinated is the lack of medical advice or relevant information.
Due to the recent launch of this survey and the small sample size, the results are not yet sufficient to reflect the overall trend. We call on more Chinese women to actively participate in the questionnaire survey and jointly support this important research work. Therefore, North American Chinese Health cordially invites you to participate in this extension of the "Health Access and Resource Assessment for the Elderly (SHARE)" questionnaire, aimed at better understanding the beliefs, views, and practices of Canadian Chinese community women of childbearing age regarding vaccination, as well as paying attention to cervical cancer screening behavior and its influencing factors among Chinese women.
By participating in this survey, you will help us fill the knowledge gap regarding vaccination and cancer screening, ultimately promoting vaccination and cancer screening rates among Chinese Canadian women. The questionnaire is completely anonymous and takes approximately 5 minutes to fill out. You can choose to fill out the form in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, or English.
After completing the questionnaire, you will have the opportunity to participate in a lucky draw with prizes of 10 electronic gift cards worth CAD 100. Please note that participating in the lottery requires providing an email address after submitting the questionnaire. Your email will only be used for lottery contact and will be kept strictly confidential from the survey data.
