Yikang Wu Zhaocan Long term Care Home: A New Milestone in Enhancing Elderly Care Services

Yikang's fifth long-term care home in the Greater Toronto Area, Yikang Wu Zhaocan Long Term Care Home, officially broke ground a year ago. The construction of this new hospital marks a new stage for Yikang to serve the elderly, and also provides practical solutions to meet the urgent needs of the community for long-term care services. The groundbreaking ceremony will be held on November 30, 2023. Currently, the construction project is progressing smoothly, and the courtyard has been built to the third floor. It is expected to be topped out in the first half of 2025 and completed in the spring of 2026.

Yikang Wu Zhaocan Long term Care Home will add 224 beds, including private, basic, and semi private rooms, greatly alleviating the current situation of bed shortage. According to statistics, there are over 9000 elderly people waiting for beds in the four long-term care homes of Yikang, and the long waiting time has made many families feel anxious and helpless. The operation of the new hospital will significantly enhance Yikang's ability to meet long-term care needs and provide more comprehensive nursing services for the elderly in the community.

The new hospital has not only increased the capacity of beds, but also planned modern facilities such as community service centers and underground parking lots. The architectural design incorporates lessons learned during the pandemic to ensure that the elderly, their families, and employees can move around in a safe and comfortable environment. The board of directors of Yikang stated that the new hospital will provide high-quality and culturally relevant services to create a better living environment for the elderly in diverse communities.

Love Urgent "Plan: Community's Joint Efforts

The construction of the new hospital cannot be separated from the "Love Urgent" plan launched by the Yikang Foundation in 2022. This plan aims to raise construction funds for the new campus and has received strong support from numerous institutions and community members. Among them, the Wu Shichang Charity Foundation generously donated 5 million yuan, laying a solid foundation for the fundraising plan.

In addition to donations from the Wu Shichang Charity Foundation, there are countless kind-hearted individuals, sponsors, and community members who support Yikang's fundraising efforts through various means. It is precisely because of the deep friendship in this community that Yikang is able to achieve its goal of increasing the number of beds from 805 to over 1000, thereby better serving the elderly population in the Greater Toronto Area.

The 'Dragon Banquet' will gather caring individuals from all walks of life to raise more funds through this platform to support the construction and improvement of the new hospital. Yikang hopes to provide every elderly person with the care services they deserve through the joint efforts of all parties, and create a better future for them.
