Skinopathy wins Canadian championship at the Entrepreneurship World Cup


Skinopathy, a medical technology company dedicated to assisting healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical companies, and skincare product companies in screening, tracking, and managing all skin conditions, won the Entrepreneurship World Cup championship at the recently concluded CIX Summit in Canada, representing Canada in the global competition.


The Startup World Cup is a global conference and competition aimed at connecting the global entrepreneurial ecosystem. Organized by Pegasus Tech Ventures, a multinational venture capital firm headquartered in Silicon Valley. Before the 2024 Finals, over 70 regional competitions will be held in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. At the finals, the ultimate world champion will receive a $1 million investment prize.

The Entrepreneurship World Cup collaborates with CIX annually to hold competitions in the Canadian region, and recognizes the top 20 startups from CIX as finalists. Last week, the judges of the Entrepreneurship World Cup attended the CIX Summit held in Toronto and selected Skinopathy as the winner for the Canadian region from the 2024 CIX Top 20 (20 startups).


Established in 2020, Skinopathy utilizes artificial intelligence for early detection of skin cancer and diagnosis of other skin diseases, receiving global support from the medical community and government. Its uniqueness lies in integrating healthcare, research, and technology, creating a unified platform for all stakeholders, including patients. Under the guidance of the medical team, Skinopathy emphasizes a comprehensive and patient-centered approach, ensuring that its solutions are not only technologically advanced, safe, but also provide value.

Skinopathy has been invited to represent Canada in the Global Finals of the Entrepreneurship World Cup, which will be held in San Francisco on October 4, 2024. At that time, it will compete with over 60 global startups for an investment bonus worth $1 million.

Skinopathy, which has been established for less than four years, previously won the INSEAD Business as a Force for Good Award in 2022, the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgery Innovation First Prize in 2023, and the Top 20 Early Tech Start up Enterprise Award at the 2024 Canadian Innovation Exchange Summit (CIX).

Keith Loo graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and English Literature from the University of Waterloo, excelling in both arts and sciences; Subsequently, he obtained an MBA degree from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Keith has over 25 years of technical experience and has worked for Fortune 100 companies such as Microsoft, Google, and JPMorgan Chase. Keith is currently a lecturer at Schulich School of Business, a special advisor to the Executive Director of the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and a member of the TechMBA Program Advisory Committee.

Dr. Hong Jialiang, another co-founder of Skinopathy, has been practicing medicine for nearly 40 years and is a well-known plastic surgeon in Canada. Dr. Hong has served as the Chair of the Plastic Surgery Department at the Ontario Medical Association and the Director of Plastic Surgery at the Rouge Valley Health System. He graduated from the University of Toronto School of Medicine and received an honorary degree in Chemistry from Queen's University. He has received training from world-renowned surgeons, including Dr. Bruce Connell and Dr. Robert Flower.
