Yorkdale Mall launches giant green snake to welcome the Chinese New Year of the Snake
On January 17th, a giant green snake that is 30 feet (about 9.14 meters) high and 20 feet (about 6.1 meters) wide was unveiled in the east courtyard of the well-known large shopping mall Yorkdale, joining visitors from all directions to welcome the upcoming Lunar New Year of the Snake.
The person in charge of the shopping mall introduced that this year of the Snake is called the "Wood Snake Year", also known as the "Green Snake Year". Therefore, the design team specially designed this giant snake with a jade like color, hoping that it can bring good luck to people during the Chinese New Year. This green masterpiece is made of sustainable materials and weighs 550 pounds, symbolizing good luck, growth, and renewal in 2025. The green hue reflects the elegance of jade, attracting prosperity and driving away misfortune.
The giant green snake will occupy the shopping center until February 12, namely Yuanxiao (Filled round balls made of glutinous rice-flour for Lantern Festival). There are many other Year of the Snake decorations inside Yorkdale Shopping Center. In addition to the snake elements in the shop windows and shelves, there is also a golden arcade decorated with green snake flooring next to the Lunar New Year gate at Holt Renfrew. As soon as this arcade was built, it attracted many tourists and friends to capture special moments with cameras.
