Over the past weekend, passengers planning to take a ferry on Lake Central Island in Toronto went through a long wait again
Due to the large number of people queuing up this summer, which has reached an unprecedented level, but the capacity of the ferry is limited, so city government officials have begun to consider building a new bridge that leads directly to the central island of the lake!
On Saturday, tourists who wanted to go to the island experienced particularly brutal queues. Because the weather was very good that day, a large number of tourists flocked to the central island of the lake.
A photo circulating online that day showed a long queue winding out of Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, bypassing the Queens Quay neighborhood, once again sparking calls for "building bridges".

The long queue waiting for the ferry has reached the Westin Hotel, which looks quite exaggerated!
The post by former mayoral candidate April Engelberg (who advocated for the construction of a bridge to the central island during the campaign) attracted widespread attention over the weekend.
In addition, numerous viral photos and videos have highlighted the insufficient capacity of ferries and sparked strong calls for the construction of fixed pedestrian/bicycle walkways.
In June, Congressman Jon Burnside proposed a motion calling for the city government to seriously consider building an elevated bridge to make it more convenient for people to travel to and from the popular attraction of Lake Island. The proposal was later approved by the city council.
As is well known, it is no secret that the central island of the lake is overcrowded.
Although the municipal government did not proactively warn the public not to travel to the central island of the lake, it is widely expected that traveling to the island will result in overcrowding, chaos, long queues, and even crowded ferry terminals.
Although no bridge has been built yet, there is indeed a fixed passage leading to the Toronto Islands. It is a pedestrian tunnel leading to Billy Bishop Airport, which was opened in 2015, but this passage cannot reach other islands.
From this, it can be seen that if a bridge is really built that can lead to the central island of the lake, it will be more convenient to visit the island afterwards! What do you think?
