Canada announced last year that a new nursing worker immigration pilot program is about to be launched. After waiting for six months, it has finally been officially announced that it will start implementation on March 31st this year! More precisely, it is reopening, as the pilot project has also been opened before, but this time the threshold is lower!
Project requirements and advantages
Language requirement: Only CLB 4 or above is required, which is almost the lowest language requirement among all immigration programs;
Only 6 months of relevant work experience is required, and work experience outside of Canada is also recognized! The required work experience duration is very short, and the work location is flexible. Those who are interested can also accumulate work experience in China;
Educational requirements: A high school diploma or above is sufficient, equivalent to the lowest educational requirement in the immigration program;
Employer requirements: A qualified employer is required, who must be an individual and not an institution such as a nursing home or daycare center.
project background
This pilot project previously required at least 2 years of work experience, a CLB5 language proficiency score, and a college degree or above. In contrast, the new pilot project only requires 6 months of work experience, CLB4 language proficiency, and a high school diploma or above, fully reflecting the urgent need for a large number of nursing workers to fill the labor market gap in the federal government! The currently open projects correspond to two different types of work:
NOC 44100: Home child care providers
NOC 44101: Home support worker
There are 7500 spots in each of the two categories, but based on previous years' experience, the children's category is very popular. It is recommended to prioritize preparing the second category of family caregivers, as the chances of winning it are relatively high!
Special precautions
Must have family work experience. The relevant work experience of the caregiver must be non institutional work in private households (nursing homes, day care centers, etc. do not meet the requirements)
The employment relationship is clear. The employer must be a non direct relative and have proof of salary payment.
Who is suitable to apply
Domestic caregiver/home assistant: If you are working as a home caregiver or a personal assistant taking care of the elderly, start preparing now!
Accompanying parents: If you are already accompanying students in Canada, switching to the family caregiver category is an excellent way to quickly secure permanent residency!
In addition to applying for this pilot program, nursing worker immigrants can also meet the requirements of fast track and provincial nominated immigrants, and the project is very flexible. If you are also interested in nursing worker immigration or unsure if you meet its requirements, please feel free to contact us. We will arrange a one-on-one free evaluation for you as soon as possible to find the most suitable immigration path for you!
