Winter in Toronto has arrived as promised, calm as a promise that never changes. The Toronto government has also opened up winter activity venues for us in various places, providing us with good places for activities.


Outdoor activity venues


50 artificial ice rinks, 23 sled mountains, and 5 golf courses with 8 snow trails for hiking boots.


More than 1500 parks are open to the public, many of which have snow removal functions, key areas have toilets, and 17 winter maintained park walking routes are open.


More than 800 amusement parks, 30 parks providing outdoor fitness equipment, and E.T. Seton Park's archery range including 60 outdoor sports fields with tennis courts.


70 outdoor table tennis tables and 60 chess tables, 68 dog playgrounds


6 frisbee golf courses, including Scarlett Woods golf course (temporarily open in winter), High Park (open on weekends without cars)

In order to provide residents with a place for winter walks, Toronto has carried out winter maintenance on some passages. In addition, on some golf courses, there are 8 marked snow trails for hiking boots that have not been maintained.


Some park paths cannot be maintained in winter due to issues such as the type of pavement material or location in environmentally sensitive areas.

The five golf courses that offer hiking trails with snow boots this winter are as follows:


Dentonia Park – Scarborough Don Valley – North York


Humber Valley – Etobicoke Scarlett Woods – York


Tam O’Shanter – Scarborough


There are eight snow trails in total, ranging from 1 to 2.5 kilometers. You can take TTC to get there. There are restrooms inside the golf course building.

Centennial Park – Etobicoke


This 213 hectare park is located on the west side of Renforth Drive and the north side of Rathburn Road, and is the largest park in Toronto.

Chalkfarm Park, Heathrow Park, and Giovanni Caboto Park


Chalkfarm Park, Heathrow Park, and Giovanni Caboto Park are located north of Wilson Avenue and on both sides of Jane Street Chalkfarm Park, Heathrow Park, and Giovanni Caboto Park are located north of Wilson Avenue on both sides of Jian Street. Drive along Black Creek and cross Heathrow Park from the north of Chalkfarm Park

High Park, Happer Park



Located near Bloor Street West and Parkside Drive, High Park is a place of significant environmental importance

In addition to paved roads, pedestrian paving and highways are also undergoing winter maintenance, including the east side of Grenadier Pond

Earl Bales Park and Hinder Area


These parks are located on the east side of Bathurst Street on Sheppard Avenue West.


There are multiple winter maintained roads and trails in the park


Earl Bales Community Centre provides public restrooms


Earl Bales Park has four parking lots; There is a parking lot in Hinder Area


Earl Bales Park has three playgrounds and a dog park. The Hinder Area is part of a wide forest gully system that is conducive to the growth of wildlife and plants in the area, and is also a great place for bird watching.


Edwards Gardens


Edwards Gardens is located at the intersection of Lawrence Avenue East and Leslie Street.

The area is part of Don River West Branch, so you can see a large number of wildlife. There are many horticultural displays on the winter maintenance path.

G. Ross Lord Park is a large park located on Dufferin Street between Finch Avenue and Steeles Avenue

This park has a dog park. Walk east along the winter maintained trail to Harryetta Gardens Park, then continue north along the winter maintained sidewalk to reach Steeles Avenue.


Finch Recreational Trail


This paved pedestrian/bicycle path is located west of Norfinch Drive and Yonge Street in Etobicoke York


Within the waterway corridor between Talbot Road.


Nine kilometer winter maintenance channel


There is a winter maintenance pathway from Finch Recreation Trail to Driftwood Community Recreation Centre


Driftwood Community Recreation Centre, G. Ross Lord Park, and Esther Shiner Stadium all have parking lots and restrooms


The eastern end of Yonge Street, between Willowdale Avenue and Pineway Boulevard, is an environmentally sensitive area and therefore will not undergo winter maintenance.


Sunnybrook Park, Wilket Creek Park, and E.T. Seton Park


Sunnybrook Park, Wilket Creek Park, and E.T. Seton Park are located in the Eglinton Avenue East and Leslie Street area


The winter maintained park road from Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center to Overlea Boulevard is long

Some sidewalks in the northern part of Wilkett Creek Park are environmentally sensitive areas and do not have winter maintenance.

Birkdale Ravine, Thomson Memorial Park, Bendale Park, Hague Park, and Cedar Brook Park


You can pass through Birkdale Ravine along West Highland Creek, Thomson Memorial Park, Bendale Park, Hague Park, and Cedar Brook Park


There is a five kilometer winter route from Birkdale Community Centre to Cedarbrook Community Centre

Finch Recreational Trail


The paved path/bike lane in this waterway corridor is located to the east of L'Amoriaux Sports Complex, between Silver Star Boulevard and Middlefield Road.

Gatineau Hydro Corridor


The Meadoway section is located between Victoria Park Avenue and Scarborough Golf Club Road.

There is a 1.5-kilometer unpaved road between Kennedy Road and Brimley Road that is not maintained during winter.


You can also take a small path.


The trail between Crockford Boulevard and Birchmount Avenue is under construction, and there is a small marked bend.

Milliken Park is located at the southeast corner of Steeles Avenue East and McCowan Road.

Port Union Village Common Park does not have a parking lot


This park has a small playground. The non winter maintenance trail extends 2.5 kilometers to Rouge Beach Park or two kilometers to the winter maintenance parking lot at Eastpoint Park. There may be ice near the coast, please proceed with caution.




Kew Gardens and East Martin Goodman Trail


Kew Gardens is located on Lee Avenue in Queen Street East, Beach neighborhood.


In Kew Gardens:


There are winter maintenance paths around the park


There are winter public restrooms near the outdoor skating rink


No parking


There is a dog park on Kew Gardens beach.


The Martin Goodman Trail from Kew Gardens runs east or west:

The park features an 18 hole circular golf course located between Ward's Island and Centre Island.


Hanlan's Point opens public tennis courts, playgrounds, outdoor table tennis tables, and other outdoor spaces in winter.


But there is no heating shed, and the indoor space is also very limited, so it is important to pay attention to keeping warm.


Trinity Bellwoods Park


Trinity Bellwoods Park is located at the northern end of Strachan Avenue, between Queen Street West and Dundas Street West.
