2024 Overseas Chinese Media Tour in Zhangzhou

Zhangzhou is a millennium old city, the main ancestral home of Taiwanese compatriots, and an important birthplace of Minnan culture. It is an important node city on the "Maritime Silk Road" in history, with rich cultural heritage, distinct local characteristics, and advantages in cultural resources for Taiwan and foreign countries. Zhangzhou is also a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in China, with over 1.1 million overseas Chinese distributed in nearly 70 countries and regions around the world. It is a natural bridge and link between Zhangzhou and the world.

The launch ceremony of the "2024 Overseas Chinese Media Tour in Zhangzhou" themed interview activity was held in Guanshe Village, Hua'an County, Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, a village with ethnic minority characteristics in China. Representatives from 21 overseas Chinese media outlets from 18 countries including the United States, Australia, Italy, Argentina, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia came to Zhangzhou to participate in the "Walking China" series of activities. This event will focus on accelerating the construction of the World Minnan Cultural Exchange Center, with the theme of "Rural Urban Cultural City", actively promoting Chinese culture to better enter the world, continuously expanding the international "circle of friends", and creating a brand for cultural exchange with foreign countries.

This event is jointly organized by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Zhangzhou Municipal Committee, the News Office of the Zhangzhou Municipal People's Government, and the Fujian Branch of China News Service. During the five-day visit, representatives of overseas Chinese media will go to Hua'an, Nanjing, Pinghe, Xiangcheng and other places to visit Zhangzhou's characteristic cultural resources, appreciate the treasure of the Earthen Building in Fujian Province, a traditional Chinese residence and a wonder in the history of world architecture, and feel the "Fujian wisdom" and "Chinese wisdom" of Zhangzhou's adherence to cultural roots and promotion of the activation and utilization of Tulou.
