The first stop of the "2024 Overseas Chinese Media Journey to Zhangzhou" themed interview activity was the Nanyang Tower, the Earthen Building in Fujian Province Museum.
Nanyang Tower was built in the 22nd year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty (1817). It is a double ring circular earthen tower, facing southeast and northwest, covering an area of 3100 square meters, with a height of 13.25 meters and a diameter of 51.6 meters. It has 4 units, each with 7 rooms, and a total of 96 rooms. Arch of wooden architecture is carved with flowers and grass, with fine decoration; Stone plaques and carvings are exquisitely crafted.
Nanyang Tower is located at the foot of Lion shaped Mountain in Dadi Village, Hua'an County, surrounded by an excellent ecological environment and beautiful mountains and waters; There is a plaque beside the gate, with the words "the Earthen Building in Fujian Province Museum" written on it. Representatives of 21 overseas Chinese media from 18 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, the Philippines and Indonesia, were guided by Jiang Chunmei, a commentator, to taste the culture of the Earthen Building in Fujian Province, a world cultural heritage. Nanyang Tower is the most exquisite earthen tower that emphasizes the surrounding landscape environment outside the building, and is a masterpiece among the circular earthen towers in Fujian.
There is a "Sun Moon Pool" in front of Nanyang Tower, and a backyard is built behind the tower, with two ancient pine trees standing upright as a barrier; Backed by Lion Rock, forming a "lion stomping on the ball" momentum. This unique condition makes Nanyang Tower a museum of the Earthen Building in Fujian Province.
