On the evening of February 17, 2024, "The Sound of Nature | Meet the Nature - Hang Gai Band Concert", as one of the highlights of Canada's 2024 the Year of the Loong Spring Festival Temple Fair series activities, was successfully concluded. Hanggai Band once again ignited Toronto with their highly immersive and infectious music live, allowing all fans to experience the soul of ancient nomadic rock music.
Hanggai Band "was founded in 2004 and has been invited to participate in or host multiple world-class music festivals. It is currently the most prestigious Chinese band on the international stage. This year and the title sponsor of this concert, SkyView Windows&Doors, have also gone through 20 weeks of ups and downs. As one of the few full industry chain door and window manufacturers in Canada, "Teana Doors and Windows" also kicked off a series of celebration activities for its 20th anniversary.
The sound of the horsehead fiddle is flying, and the sound of the wheat is deep and distant. The Hanggai band, with a rough exterior and a soft heart, possesses a magical and captivating musical appeal. The style of the music is either timeless and vast, or majestic and unrestrained, like the sound of nature! They used music to outline a picture of the ancient Mongolian word 'Hanggai', a natural world with blue skies, white clouds, grasslands, rivers, mountains, and forests. This is also the advocacy and expression of the co sponsor 'Nature Wealth Management Group'. Hanggai Band takes Mongolian folk music as its roots, while integrating contemporary rock music. From traditional instruments such as taobuxiuer, horsehead fiddle, sanxian, and kouxian, to Western drums, electric guitars, and bass, combined with the unique singing style of hula, they give new life to ancient music and create world music with Chinese characteristics.
The Hanggai Band was formed by Captain Ilyich, who is dedicated to leading the band on tours around the world and spreading the fame of Mongolian folk songs worldwide. The band members come from Inner Mongolia, Qinghai and other places. Lead singer Hu Richa is the pioneer of Hanggai, with a powerful and natural singing voice; Yilalalata is the legendary lead singer and guitarist of the band, with both deep affection and passion; Guitarist Allen is the most distinctive musician in the band; Hasbagan has been with Hanggai for many years, using horsehead fiddle and pager to propel this rock music chariot forward; Drummer Zhou Hao unleashes unlimited energy to give the band the most powerful rhythm; Bassist Niu Xin was inspired by rock music to leave Inner Mongolia and joined Hanggai by the grassland; Bao Rude, a guitarist and three stringed musician from Ordos, Inner Mongolia, has a unique understanding of ethnic and modern music.
Hanggai Band has performed alongside numerous internationally renowned bands and musicians, and is also a Chinese band that has received high praise from numerous world-class media outlets. The famous English music review website Rapbody once commented on the Hanggai band as follows: "They have leaped from a folk music phenomenon to a pioneer in cross-border music, and they have never lost their soul." "Growing up on the vast territory of the Mongolian grasslands, this kind of music makes you homesick, even though you have never been to that place." Since the release of their first self titled album "Hanggai" in 2007, Hanggai has produced multiple albums and EP albums, and their albums or singles have also won many awards in the music industry around the world. After winning the annual championship of the second season of "Chinese Good Songs" in 2015, they attracted more music fans.
At this Toronto concert, lead singer Hu Richa's rendition of "Four Seasons" shook the audience and ignited their passion in an instant. The enchanting performance and singing intertwined into melodies that were both dream like and heart wrenching. More than ten famous works, such as "Wurenduxi", "Brothers", "Swan", "Tolkien Mountain", "Higgins Day", "Visiting", "Reincarnation", "Rising Sun", etc., bring free, unrestrained, and lively performances, and in a second, dream back to the grassland! When the most familiar melodies of "Zebra Flower", "Wine Song", and "Wild Goose" were played, the whole audience was filled with excitement. The classic chorus, passionate dance, and two beautiful little angels came up to perform on stage with their parents.
The other wave of songs that will dominate the concert will be brought by local fans and the president of the title sponsor Teana Doors and Windows, Mr. Huang Ping, in collaboration with Hanggai Band. The song 'Night in Ulaanbaatar' portrays the longing that twists and turns from the heroic act of drinking wine as a song to the tender and lingering words; Another song, 'Flower Room Girl', even overturned the entire audience. Mr. Huang Ping has been a rock youth since college, and also the captain and lead singer of the Toronto Aurora band. More than 20 years ago, I immigrated to Canada and, with an understanding of the rock spirit, ventured into North America and fought in the business world, creating the corporate spirit of Teana Doors and Windows.
At the end of the concert, a surprise guest was welcomed, and Frank Scarpitti, the mayor of Wanjin City, not only brought a congratulatory message, but also passionately sang a song called "The Moon Represents My Heart". After the performance, Hanggai Band arrived at Wanjin Xindian, a catering sponsor of "Western Region Restaurant", to taste the authentic Xinjiang flavor. Everyone was still unsatisfied and turned it into a cheerful AFTER PARTY. Gathering old friends together, it's really like "drinking until you're drunk, refilling until you're drunk tonight, don't give back!" Many viewers and friends around expressed that Hanggai Band's performance was too shocking, but unfortunately they didn't hear enough. According to the marketing personnel of Teana Doors and Windows, they are negotiating a schedule with Hanggai Band, striving to return to Toronto this autumn and join hands with Teana Doors and Windows again to do a bigger concert. Let's look forward to it together!
