A female driver in Ontario received a letter stating that her driver's license had been revoked due to a traffic fine 13 years ago, which shocked her.
My driver's license was revoked because I had an unpaid driving fine, "said Christine Coldwell of Mississauga.
Coldwell said she remembers the ticket, which was issued in Toronto for a violation of turning rules. As an accountant, she stated that she retains all documents for ten years. But since this fine was issued 13 years ago, she said she cannot prove whether the fine has been paid.
I don't deny that I received a fine in 2011. I know I received it, but I am certain that I have already paid the fine, "Coldwell said.
If you receive a traffic fine, your driver's license may be revoked, and you will be reminded to pay the fine when you go to Service Ontario for business.
But Coldwell stated that she has had multiple dealings with Service Ontario over the years, such as updating her driver's license and license plates, but has never mentioned any unpaid fines.
In these 13 years, I have gone five times to either renew my driver's license or change my address, but I have never mentioned (this traffic ticket), "she said.

Coldwell was informed that in order to restore her driver's license, she must pay a fine of 115 yuan, a late fee of 49 yuan, and a license restoration fee of 281 yuan, totaling 445 yuan.
I have no recourse. No, I can only pay a fine of 445 yuan, "Coldwell said.
Coldwell stated that it is unfair for the City of Toronto to demand payment of fines after such a long period of time, and she was informed that the city is reviewing its accounts to find income.
The City of Toronto is conducting a series of audits and their auditors have discovered some unpaid fines, which is how they are handling it, "she said.
Coldwell believes that drivers should be able to pay unpaid fines without revoking their driver's license, and states that fines should be dealt with after 13 years.
I protested and paid the fine because I had no choice but to drive, "Coldwell said.
Other drivers have also received notices demanding payment of fines from many years ago. CTV News Toronto reported on another driver who claimed his driver's license had been revoked due to a fine he received 25 years ago.
Anyway, whenever you receive a traffic ticket, it's best to pay it immediately.
