Continuous snowstorms hit Toronto: Clear snow takes three weeks, TTC subway affected

Toronto city officials have stated that two heavy snowfalls in the past week have resulted in thick snow covering city streets, bike lanes, and sidewalks, and the cleanup work may take up to three weeks.

The Canadian Department of Environment stated that there may be scattered light snow in Toronto today, but it is expected that the total snow accumulation will only be about 2 centimeters.

At 10:30 am on Monday, Adrian Grundy, a spokesperson for the Toronto Transit Authority (TTC), stated that trains on Metro Line 1 between Bloor Yonge and Eglinton stations are using "anti icing solution" to treat the tracks.

Grundy explained, 'The ice buildup on the power track caused the subway to shut down on that section of the road.'. He stated that TTC plans to resume subway operations on this section on Monday afternoon.

Today is Family Day, and the passenger flow is relatively low. Our subway operation frequency has decreased compared to regular Mondays, so the impact is relatively small
