Ford wins provincial re-election! The Conservative Party forms a majority government for the third consecutive time

On February 27th, 25th, a new round of Ontario provincial elections came to an end. The Conservative Party led by Ford once again won the election and formed a majority government.

Out of all 124 parliamentary seats in Ontario, the Conservative Party won 80 seats with 43% of the vote (one more than the previous election), the New Democratic Party won 27 seats with 18.6% of the vote (one less than the previous election), the Liberal Party won 14 seats with 29.9% of the vote (five more than the previous election), the Green Party won 2 seats with 4.8% of the vote (unchanged), and one independent member of parliament.

At 9:06 pm, according to CTV News, the Progressive Conservative Party (PC) in Ontario won the 2025 provincial election.

Zero eight points, CTV News announced that the Progressive Conservative Party maintains its majority position, marking Doug Ford's third consecutive victory in a majority government. This is also the first time in over 65 years that Ontario has had a governor who has formed a majority government for three consecutive times. The last time it happened was in 1959, five years before Ford was born.

At 9:12, as the Conservative Party won a majority of seats, cheers erupted from its campaign headquarters as Ford prepared to give a victory speech.

At 10:30 pm, Prime Minister Trudeau congratulated the Progressive Conservative Party led by Doug Ford on their successful re-election and emphasized that the federal and provincial governments must work together to address current key challenges.

At this critical moment, we must work together to defend Canadian interests, protect workers and businesses, and drive economic growth, "Trudeau said in a statement." This includes making progress on the most pressing issues for the people of Ontario and across Canada - creating high paying jobs, building more housing, and investing in healthcare and affordable childcare services

He added, "Only through unity and cooperation can we build stronger and more equitable communities, provinces, and countries

The situation of other political parties in this provincial election:

The leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP), Marit Stiles, is expected to win her own constituency - Davenport, located at the western end of Toronto. She has been serving as a member of parliament for this constituency since 2018.

Green Party leader Mike Schreiner is expected to win a seat in the Guelph constituency. He has also been serving as a member of parliament for this constituency since 2018.

Liberal Party leader Carrie Lam failed to win her constituency in Mississauga, but she said she would not resign.

However, good news for the Liberal Party is that their total number of seats will increase compared to last time, at least to regain the status of an official political party.
