In September 1998, the Health Services Restructuring Commission (HSRC) confirmed and endorsed a proposal for the amalgamation of The Salvation Army Scarborough Grace Hospital and Scarborough General Hospital into one corporation. This was consistent with a voluntary plan submitted by both hospitals in July, 1998.
Today, The Scarborough Hospital (TSH) is Canada's largest urban community hospital, with approximately 3,700 staff members, more than 700 physicians, and 1,100 volunteers. With an annual budget of $236 million and a 650-bed capacity, the hospital provides a diverse range of services across 11 patient care areas.
